Life in Buenos Aires
These are photos from our second round of stay in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires. We previously had stayed in another part, in Palermo, but came back after our short trip to Iguazu Falls.
We stayed in an Airbnb located in Avenida del Libertador, a main avenue of the city. It’s a 2 minute walk from the grocery store, 20 minute walk to Chinatown, and had the best views of sunrises!
I loved our more than a month stay here, as it gave us enough time to relax and be stable for a while.
We had a view of the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti, home of the 1978 World Cup games
The building had weird elevators, only two people could fit in!
There were days when we would wake up, and it was just foggy
Foggy from morning UNTIL night!
It's because BA is located by the Rio de la Plata, a bay between Argentina and Uruguay - but it's named a river? Rio?
Did you know that it's rare to find Airbnbs with a comfortable chair? Alex quite enjoyed this one for when he's on his laptop!
One morning, it was non-stop beeping of cars below us. A couple of minutes later, we saw thousands of people marching below
It was a socialist rally...
Our neighbors above gave them the middle finger...
The skies in Buenos Aires are so nice! So colorful...
On some Fridays and weekends, we would hear the chants and cheers of the people watching the soccer games here
I wake up early, so I get to watch the stunning sunrises here
The sky would change colors in a matter of minutes, and the city would wake up with it
We walked around one Saturday
The city looks like Europe!
We're perpetual tourists...
Saw lots of paper on the walls... Upon closer inspection, ha!
Did you know that Argentina's the only country that regressed from being first world to developing?
The architecture in this city really felt first world...

In Argentina, there is an official exchange rate, and the unofficial Blue Dollar exchange rate
The Blue Dollar rate gives you double of your money's value if you exchange your USD
Argentina's the second largest national economy in South America, just after Brazil
We were surprised to know that, a lot of people here were of Italian descent! That's why instead of saying adios, they say ciao!
The temperature is very pleasant, perfect for walking without sweating (I don't like sweating)
I have a theory that the more temperate the country, the more dogs there are that are really taken care of (please find the dog doing its business)

The most beautiful Mcdonald's building I have ever seen (I tweeted this before, and an Argentine replied with "Yeah bro and we can't even pay for it" :(
Alex says that this reminds him of New York's Times Square

Apparently, this was a car burning...
The smoke disappeared in less than an hour though
I am still getting used to the X-S10...
I was craving for lemon squares, so I made some!
Palermo Hollywood is such a hip place
There were lots of trendy shops and restaurants around
Everything was in Spanish though...
I like the Argentine life, they love their hangouts
And rolling their own cigarettes...
The cobbled streets were beautiful

At night, it gets really cold
The food here was great, best pork buns I have had... Alex had his vegetarian noods
The clouds here are crazy, sometimes. Must be the water!
This was our last sunrise in this place, before we headed to Ushuaia!
Overall, I would like to come back here because of the weather. There were lots of places we weren’t able to see, but I am sure we would come back in the future!
